Stickyball.net touts itself as a "resources for a frustrated teacher." While primarily designed for ESL students, the section on idioms is especially fantastic.
The idioms are arranged in alphabetical order and in A alone there are 11 idioms. The idioms are grouped by what they mean, and explanations of each are given. On the second page is various activities such as "Idiom advice." A short scenario is given and the student has to pick which idiom (s)he would tell the person for advice. There is also reverse where the idiom is given and the student has to write a scenario in which the idiom could be used as advice. Another activity is story fill-ins similar to the above two activities.
For example: "I heard they might cancel school tomorrow due to the weather." The student has to fill in the advice. ("Don't hold your breath.")
