Straightforward Asperger's Response to Neurodiversity

John Elder Robinsons's writing has always been simple, logical, and straightforward. He states things the way he seems then and doesn't try to go into lengthy, convoluted explanation. Last week, he wrote a great response the neurodiversity vs. cure debate.

In summary, he says, yes, it was tough being autistic. He realizes having their neurological difference makes aspects of life harder. However, he acknowledges that is it a neurological difference, therefore we must work with individuals with autism. He stresses the need to teach functional skills instead of running around wildly searching for a cure.

I appreciate Mr. Robinson's view on this. It is balanced and places no blame without sugar coating the neurological disability.
